time simply WHIZZED past me for the past couple of months. happy and unhappy times alike, somehow, some things which used to be very important to me suddenly seems like nothing. they didnt really matter anymore.

somehow i came to understand that this world is built on the basis of beautiful deceptions, clever lies and unfounded truths. global warming at this moment doesnt really matter to many of us, cause somehow, mid terms manage to squeeze their way to become our top priority, pushing away everything else. mas selamat's escape becomes a distant memory in most singaporeans' lives, 5 weeks after his escape, people carrying on with their lives, living in comfort and security. or so we think. food prices inflations are at the highest i've known since i was sensible, and with the dwindling supply of rice as a major problem, people was rushing to stock up at home. leading to even MORE shortage.

yet, when we come to think of it again, doesnt it all boil down to globalisation? not that its a bad thing, but there're two faces to a coin. globalisation- interconnected-ness, which makes countries become very competitive, pushing to become a more highly developed country.

the results? GLOBAL WARMING, resulting in bizzare weather and inadvertently causing our rice stock shortage, with many rice producing regions badly affected. Take for example australia and europe which were hit by drought, causing rice productions to fall. china too, affected by the snow even when winter was long supposed to be over. now, the world's eyes are on India- will the harvest be good? suddenly, the world finds itself worrying, for the first time in years, about the basic food staple- RICE.

POVERTY. how many percent of the world's population lives on less than US$1 a day? such irony is that the rich are getting so much richer, but the poor remains poor, or even poorer due to global inflation etc. there's one club for the rich, where only 150 people in the world qualify for. with a $10 million (not SGD of course)entry membership fee, and a yearly membership fee of $1.5 million, they can live a life of luxury. yatch, resorts, beach homes, private jets. you name it and they have it. imagine taking the $1.5 million yearly and giving it to the people living in extreme poverty. there are so much MORE things that can be bought with this money instead of a transatlantic flight across the earth for one person.

these things are worrying. this generation is the one which can make or break the world. and we need to save mother earth. NOW. FAST.

whatever we do, we should stay happy. and i am absolutely unhappy with the world right now. very. counter global warming. in view of all these....

why arent our midterms about these issues? instead, they're about moments, brownian motion, cells, logarithms, modulus... and the list goes on. if there isnt anymore paper in this world, then how do they even print the exam questions? =.= SAVE MOTHER EARTH. STOP DEFORESTATION. ABOLISH EXAMS!
