just came back from the explorers' camp and it was UBER exhausting. superbly. but its not physical, just more of a mental strain and its really hard to imagine the sec 3s taking over this year in july. XP
in the start when they reported for camp, within the first 15 minutes there were about 5 casualties!? and when we scolded them there was NO RESPONSE AT ALL! it was kind of scary and all, seeing how we're so used to campers being responsive and engaging.
in the end, the reporting and DC ended up taking one hour 15 mins, instead of 30 mins. so we overshot the timing like god knows how long. but at least its our camp so we are FLEXIBLE. haha. the sec 1s came in and we played the ice breakers and treasure hunt with them before releasing them home while the sec 2s and 3s stayed for the camp.
i was the FOOD COM so i got to use the cookery room! preped food for the self cook dinner, had to even boil the fishballs for them. and ann perng cut the hotdogs and stir fried them so i only chopped the garlic. haha. and we ended up giving some food to clarissa and joan who came over to say hi , but we got our food testers!
zwan came over and took this pic, which was supposed to be menacing, but i kind of think it resembles the spongebob eraser. COMPARE!:P
so for the first time in my camping history, we had SELF COOKED DINNER. campers used the mass tin and solid fuel to cook maggie mee to go with the fishballs and hotdogs. yummy-licious. maybe we shld do this more often for camps. some basic skills and more interaction between the campers. then while they had astronomy class, i went out to da-pao desert for 9 of us who were there and it was VERY HEAVY. the ice all packed so close. and it was like, super sweet. chan teng's ice kacang looking more like syrup with red bean, sweet corn and jelly. eeew. and its murky brown in colour. but he still finished it. i guess that's called being contented with what you have=.=
after that was night walk and stuff. the mixing of the dough was super fun, me and zwan were practically doing arm wrestling in the pail of flour and water.then we took our hands out at the count of three and raced to the sink to see who washes off first. AND I WON!:D turns out that for night walk we didnt even had to refer to the proposal. do what you need to achieve the objectives: that's what we worked by. and i m sure the campers had fun. i was laughing (though i shldnt be) at a very pregnant minghow. but the whole scenario was cute, don't you all think for those who knows)?
then the sec 2s went for for a fun filled PA, then the sec 3s had their mini "orientation". not revealing anything here but let's just say nurul and i did a lot more exercise than needed. =.= tiring, the running, from tree to tree, back and forth. then while the sec 3s had PA we were cleaning up. then i showered tgt with weiqi, cause none of us dared to use the entire shower room alone. its like, 3 am in the MORNING!
then me being a lazy girl, went to nap a bit at 3.30am, asking weiqi to wake me up at 4 so i can go defrost the hotdogs, yet i slept till 5.15!! i m indeed a lazy person. haha. in the end had to defrost them the unnatural way: put in water. preped brekkie for the campers with nurul and finished at bout 7 am. then there was a MILO incident (ahem, go nurul's blog!! mayb she'll mention it) in which we ended up prepping 5 GALLEONS of milo. haha
then PT, breakfast, and stand by bunk. shouted till i was hoarse yet i was not understood. aargh. luckily in the end ummu and i discovered the "trigger". lol. feel like laughing when i think bout it. reporting will never be the same again.
then prize presentation, then we break camp at 12.45pm. packed up till nearly 2.15 then went off. was half wet because IZWAN, who was dripping wet, decided to give me a "hug". soaked halfway. weird weird feeling. like unequal, not balanced. grrr.
still, more funny things happened. haha. the elmo nightdress we bought for the campers ended up being worn by an instructor. but still, the dress was nice right? elmo says good night!:P
WHAT A WONDERFUL CAMP:) explorers' always ROCK!
p.s this post might be a little shallow but nvm. once in awhile. its something to remember. i promise to make the next less superficial
